Could this be Copenhagen’s chicest hotel?

Despite being a regular visitor to Copenhagen due to its world renown food scene, I’ve always found it a struggle to find a great place to stay. That’s all changed with the arrival of Stockholm’s Nobis Hotel, a property that hits serious highs both in its design aesthetic and its cuisine (and just a short walk from Central Station and Tivoli).

The opening of Nobis in Copenhagen is great news for Starwood SPG members too – being part of the Design Hotels porfolio, finally, the group has representation in the Danish culinary hotspot.

The Nobis’ heritage building houses twelve Junior Suites, each located in the corners of the three floors (there are three large unique suites, superior and deluxe rooms also available). The high ceilings give a dramatic feeling of space, despite the fact that the suites clock in at a modest 40sqm. From the moment you walk in the door, there are plenty of places to hang bags, coats, and scarves – definitely necessary when the mercury is dropping. The styling is the big feature of the room – its blush, teal and black palate and soft industrial styling looks straight out of an interior design magazine.

The bathroom features floor to ceiling Bardiglio marble, to die for Byredo Bal de Afrique toiletries (a scent so sophisticated we just had to run out and purchase it after our stay), super soft towels and a cosy bath that was a dream on a chilly Copenhagen afternoon – especially when there are ridiculously plush Nobis bathrobes to relax in afterwards.

Of course, Copenhagen is full to the brim with amazing restaurants (and if you’d like to read about more of them, head here to read about our faves), but I seriously recommend you make time to dine at the resident restaurant, Restaurant Niels. We tried their venison tartare, a stunning nest of egg and wild mushroom and a gorgeous white chocolate and apple dessert – every dish utterly delicious. There are also some great wines on offer and rest assured, the ambience is just as chic as the rest of the building.

Trust me when I say that Restaurant Niels’s dinner and lunch offerings really shouldn’t be missed, but if the only meal you have time for in the hotel is breakfast, then you’re still in for a treat. The daily offering consists of a super artisan, natural and delicious spread – from fresh ginger shots and homemade syrups to the best Danish pastries we’ve sampled, perfect avocado halves and smoked meats. For those who prefer eggs, there’s a selection of dishes available to be made for you a la minute also. If you’re staying on a weekend, lucky you – you’ll be able to enjoy the feast even longer. Brunch on the weekends doesn’t finish until 3pm, meaning you can sleep in without the stress of missing out. The weekend selection adds bubbles and oysters to the already delicious spread – you might find it hard to drag yourself away. (FYI: There’s no extra surcharge for guests staying on a breakfast-inclusive package for this super-sized weekend breakfast.)

A petite but functional gym and sauna are provided should you wish to undo some of the culinary damage, of if you prefer, just head to the dimly lit bar for a cocktail or two (a spacious outdoor area is currently under development).

We’re relieved to see a chic new option on the Copenhagen scene that really delivers. What’s your favorite place to stay in Copenhagen? Let us know in the comments below.
